Driv­ers caught in po­lice sting

More than 100 drunk driv­ers were caught in a four-day po­lice sting last week.

Some were caught with ba­bies and young chil­dren in their ve­hi­cles.

Check­points were set up in the city and sur­round­ing sub­urbs, from Blockhouse Bay to West­mere, Mt Al­bert and Glen Innes.

Of the driv­ers stopped in the sting, 131 had ex­cess breath al­co­hol, 18 ve­hi­cles were im­pounded and 37 peo­ple had their li­cences sus­pended.

Twelve peo­ple were ar­rested for other of­fences.

Th­ese in­cluded steal­ing ve­hi­cles, pos­ses­sion of cannabis and breach­ing bail.
