Playcentre has a Christmas wish
A Freemans Bay playcentre hopes a fundraiser this weekend will help fill its wish list for new equipment.
The centre, on the corner of Franklin Rd and Wellington St, is still re-establishing its numbers after being shut down for five months in 2006.
The playcentre had to move temporarily to allow Auckland City Council, owner of the site, to complete maintenance. Many families found the new location too far away.
Since re-opening later in the same year, numbers have been steadily increasing.
The playcentre will hold a cake stall and garage sale this Saturday.
Parent Kitt Littlejohn says some of the money raised will go towards buying new equipment and toys as some of the current ones are past their use-by date.
Old, good-quality wooden toys will be sold for bargain prices.
He says it’s also an opportunity for families looking for a playcentre in the area to come and have a look.
The garage sale will be held at the centre from 9am until 2pm.
