Open day this Satur­day at El­lipse In­sti­tute

El­lipse In­sti­tute has been op­er­at­ing for 13 years and over the last few years has un­der­gone some mod­ern and dy­namic changes as a re­sult of new own­er­ship by Bhaskar Prasad, who has been as­so­ci­ated with ter­tiary ed­u­ca­tion in New Zealand since the early 1990s.

The In­sti­tute is go­ing through a very im­por­tant phase, ex­pand­ing its op­er­a­tional base, adding new cour­ses in re­sponse to cus­tomer need and de­mand, and at the same time ca­ter­ing for stu­dents of all age groups and eth­nic­i­ties.

In the last two years the Pa­cific Is­land com­mu­nity and the Indo-Asian com­mu­nity have ben­e­fited from the ser­vices and fa­cil­i­ties of the In­sti­tute, par­tic­u­larly with ESOL - English for Speak­ers of Other Lan­guage - train­ing.

In­sti­tute man­age­ment have the ex­per­tise, de­sire and re­sources to con­tinue pro­vid­ing this valu­able ser­vice to mi­grant com­mu­ni­ties from the Asia-Pa­cific re­gion to up­grade their English lan­guage skills, but they will only be able to do so with fund­ing as­sis­tance from the Ter­tiary Ed­u­ca­tion Com­mis­sion and Study Link, with the pro­vi­sion of stu­dent loans and al­lowance to adult stu­dents.

In its pro­gramme of di­ver­si­fi­ca­tion from its orig­i­nal Diploma in Health and Beauty course, the In­sti­tute has re­searched, de­vel­oped and im­ple­mented spe­cial diploma level cour­ses to be launched in the com­ing year.

To cel­e­brate its achieve­ments and for bet­ter pub­lic aware­ness the In­sti­tute is stag­ing an open day at its Lin­coln Road Cen­tre, 199C Lin­coln Rd, Hen­der­son on Satur­day De­cem­ber 6, from 10am to 6pm.

Mem­bers of the com­mu­nity, spe­cial guests and the gen­eral pub­lic have been in­vited to par­tic­i­pate and learn about the ac­tiv­i­ties of the In­sti­tute.

Prospec­tive stu­dents and their rel­a­tives are also in­vited to visit and ac­quire first hand knowl­edge and meet the El­lipse fam­ily com­pris­ing lo­cal and mi­grant tu­to­rial and ad­min­is­tra­tive staff.

Renowned Hindi lan­guage ra­dio sta­tion Ra­dio Tarana will be broad­cast­ing its pro­gramme from 199c Lin­coln Rd to add colour and flavour to the day’s ac­tiv­i­ties.
