Artist’s work wins top draw­ing prize

An Auck­land artist is the win­ner of the Na­tional Draw­ing Awards.

John Ward Knox, son of mu­si­cian Chris Knox, has been an­nounced win­ner of the com­pe­ti­tion at ArtS­pace Gallery.

Mr Ward Knox’s piece, ti­tled Myrrh, was se­lected as the win­ner out of 365 draw­ings.

The com­pe­ti­tion was judged by for­mer ArtS­pace di­rec­tor Brian But­ler, Physics Room di­rec­tor Kate Mont­gomery and En­joy Pub­lic Art Gallery man­ager Siv B Fjærestad. The judges said Myrrh is full of mys­tery and “ex­e­cuted with the ut­most del­i­cacy”.

Mr Ward Knox re­ceives $4000 cash and $300 credit at Gor­don Har­ris Art Sup­plies.

All en­tries are be­ing ex­hib­ited at ArtS­pace on Karanga­hape Rd un­til De­cem­ber 20.
