Artist’s work wins top drawing prize
An Auckland artist is the winner of the National Drawing Awards.
John Ward Knox, son of musician Chris Knox, has been announced winner of the competition at ArtSpace Gallery.
Mr Ward Knox’s piece, titled Myrrh, was selected as the winner out of 365 drawings.
The competition was judged by former ArtSpace director Brian Butler, Physics Room director Kate Montgomery and Enjoy Public Art Gallery manager Siv B Fjærestad. The judges said Myrrh is full of mystery and “executed with the utmost delicacy”.
Mr Ward Knox receives $4000 cash and $300 credit at Gordon Harris Art Supplies.
All entries are being exhibited at ArtSpace on Karangahape Rd until December 20.
