Rolling out Asian films

Asian cin­ema has joined the list of what’s on at the movies.

SkyC­ity Cin­e­mas, which re­cently added Bol­ly­wood movies to its list­ings, is to trial an ini­tia­tive for the wider Asian com­mu­nity.

SkyC­ity Cin­ema Asia starts on De­cem­ber 18 with Ip Man.

The films will be re­leased on a “same day and date” sched­ule as in Asian mar­kets. Most films will come from China and Hong Kong but the line-up will also fea­ture re­leases from Korea, Thai­land, Ja­pan, Viet­nam and Tai­wan.

The films will play at Queen St, High­land Park and Manukau.

Ip Man, the true story of a kung fu grand mas­ter, will be shown in Man­darin with English and Chi­nese sub­ti­tles in Queen St, and in Can­tonese with English and Chi­nese sub­ti­tles in High­land Park and Manukau.
