What’s bet­ter than a Sun­day af­ter­noon with a drink and a feed while be­ing en­ter­tained in a sprawl­ing gar­den. And all for a good cause.

Lazy Sun­day, a pic­nic or­gan­ised by the North Har­bour Club Char­i­ta­ble Trust, will be held on March 1 at the Mincher Gar­dens in Coatesville, the home of Bruce and An­gela Spooner.

En­dorsed as a gar­den of na­tional sig­nif­i­cance by the New Zealand Gar­dens Trust, the prop­erty has ma­ture trees, man­i­cured lawns, bush walks and ponds.

Jazz singer Briar Ross, crooner Grant Chilcott and Cruisin with Tina Cross and Rikki Mor­ris will per­form.

Treat your taste­buds with food pro­vided by Eurest, in­clud­ing white­bait frit­ters, mus­sel frit­ters, roast pork and lamb and wash it down with a glass of wine or bou­tique beer.

Food and drink must be pur­chased on site.

Be­cause of the lake, river and streams run­ning through the prop­erty chil­dren un­der 14 are not al­lowed in.

Lazy Sun­day is on March 1 from 11am to 4pm at the gar­dens, 338 Coatesville/ River­head High­way.
