A series of free family events will fill the Aotea Centre with performing arts in the coming months.

The programme organised by The Edge will replace the New Year’s Eve First Night concert, cancelled this year because of building works in Aotea Square.

Every weekend, beginning on Saturday, the Pick and Mix series will see a performing arts show in the Aotea Centre, followed by an interactive family workshop.

Arts organisations taking part range from the Royal New Zealand Ballet and Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, to local comedians and culture groups.

The Edge’s arts programme associate director Craig Cooper says the Pick and Mix series will be a great way to keep families entertained on wet weekends over winter.

The Pick and Mix programme starts on Saturday with Rhythm Interactive, a high-energy drumming show with audience participation.

The programme will continue every Saturday until June 27, from 11am.
