Group to rescue
A woman being plagued by a hoard of feral cats in Grey Lynn says she is relieved a peaceful solution has been found at last.
Rosalina Solomona-Kali contacted the Auckland City Harbour News last month after being denied help from the SPCA and Auckland City Council in dealing with the group of more than 15 cats living on the edges of her property.
She wasn’t feeding the colony but they were breeding and making her family sick.
She is now receiving help from Animal Liberation Aotearoa, based in Kingsland. The organisation says it plans to start by feeding the cats then gradually tame and desex them and find them permanent homes.
Ms Solomona-Kali says she is already down to nine cats, with more being rehomed every couple of days.
The Auckland City Harbour News was inundated with emails offering help and trapping equipment.
Ms Solomona-Kali says she is extremely grateful to everyone who offered their help.
