Diners make a difference
Needy children and families have received a boost from a restaurant charity.
Last year’s DineAid campaign ran during November and December, where patrons at a selection of restaurants around the country were asked to add $2 to their bill. The $55,142 raised went to several charities. The Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch city missions and the Foundation for Youth Development each received $20,000, Kidz First was given $10,000 and Cure Kids $5142.
Organiser and chef Mark Gregory says the amount is a positive sign for the charity’s future and he expects to build on it in coming years.
