Lit­tle Sharleen Chand is hop­ing her tal­ented big sis­ter comes home from hospi­tal soon so she can teach her to dance.

Shee­tal Chand came out of an in­duced coma on Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon af­ter be­ing hit by a bus on Tues­day morn­ing at the in­ter­sec­tion of Bar­rack and Pen­rose roads in Mt Welling­ton.

The 15-year-old Auck­land Girls Gram­mar stu­dent had been walk­ing to the bus-stop where she caught the bus to school ev­ery morn­ing. She is be­lieved to have been cross­ing Pen­rose Rd when she was hit.

Speak­ing from Auck­land Hospi­tal yes­ter­day morn­ing, her fa­ther Rakesh Chand said she was still on life sup­port and start­ing to show im­prove­ment.

“They’re just mon­i­tor­ing her and tak­ing it each step at a time. She’s not get­ting any worse. That’s the main thing.”
