Movie time for cou­ple

Tick­ets are still on sale for a movie screen­ing this week­end that will help raise money for a Mt Al­bert cou­ple who have suf­fered from a string of bad luck.

SkyC­ity Cin­e­mas and the Auck­land City Har­bour News will hold a spe­cial screen­ing of Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Di­nosaurs in 3D this Satur­day.

All pro­ceeds from ticket sales will go to Dean and Sacha Viall, whose world was shat­tered just over a year ago af­ter Sacha con­tracted a com­mon cold sore virus.

Pre­vi­ously an ac­coun­tant, Sacha is now con­fined to a wheel­chair af­ter the virus led to a rare brain infl She spent time in a coma and part of her skull had to be re­moved to re­lieve the pres­sure on her brain.

Her hus­band Dean de­cided to give up his job as a re­cruit­ment con­sul­tant to be­come Sacha’s full­time care­giver but as nei­ther of them were work­ing, Dean was made bank­rupt while they strug­gled to se­cure a ben­e­fit to care for Sacha.

Dean also lost his sis­ter Melissa af­ter she was de­lib­er­ately run down by a driver in 2006.

The cou­ple’s plight fea­tured in the Auck­land City Har­bour News af­ter taxi driver Tony Fal­lahi, a stranger to the pair, paid for car re­pairs when they could not af­ford it.

Since the story ap­peared, gen­er­ous of­fers have flooded in and SkyC­ity has do­nated a cin­ema to hold the spe­cial movie screen­ing.

Tick­ets are $20 each which in­cludes a Coke and pop­corn – with the full amount from each ticket go­ing di­rectly to the cou­ple for med­i­cal ex­penses and on­go­ing costs.

The movie will screen at SkyC­ity Cin­e­mas St Lukes this Satur­day at 2pm.
