The Kmart Wish­ing Tree Ap­peal is giv­ing pri­mary school chil­dren the chance to win $2500.

The Art of Giv­ing com­pe­ti­tion is open to pri­mary school chil­dren and will re­quire them to draw or paint a pic­ture or make a col­lage.

The piece of art should rep­re­sent what the spirit of giv­ing means to the child.

The winning pic­ture will be used in the pro­mo­tion of this year’s Kmart Wish­ing Tree Ap­peal.

Two schools from the North Is­land and two from the South Is­land will each re­ceive $2500 while the over­all win­ner will win an ad­di­tional $10,000.

A fur­ther two schools will re­ceive $2500 each for the Peo­ple’s Choice Award, voted for on­line.

Ev­ery stu­dent who par­tic­i­pates in the com­pe­ti­tion will re­ceive a cer­tifi­cate. Other prizes such as an iPod touch, an iPod nano and a Nin­tendo DS Lite are also up for grabs.

En­tries close on Au­gust 31. There are two age cat­e­gories, five to nine-year-olds and 10 to 12-year-olds.

Art­work can be on any medium such as pa­per, card or can­vas and should be A4, A3 or A2 size.
