Good cause for artists
The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal is giving primary school children the chance to win $2500.
The Art of Giving competition is open to primary school children and will require them to draw or paint a picture or make a collage.
The piece of art should represent what the spirit of giving means to the child.
The winning picture will be used in the promotion of this year’s Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal.
Two schools from the North Island and two from the South Island will each receive $2500 while the overall winner will win an additional $10,000.
A further two schools will receive $2500 each for the People’s Choice Award, voted for online.
Every student who participates in the competition will receive a certificate. Other prizes such as an iPod touch, an iPod nano and a Nintendo DS Lite are also up for grabs.
Entries close on August 31. There are two age categories, five to nine-year-olds and 10 to 12-year-olds.
Artwork can be on any medium such as paper, card or canvas and should be A4, A3 or A2 size.
