Pantry Magic leaves customers spellbound

Pantry Magic in Mt Wellington is celebrating its first birthday by announcing the expansion of its range of professional quality kitchen tools for enthusiastic home cooks. An extensive selection of cast iron pots and pans, woks, oil sprayers and pourers as well as chopping boards and wooden utensils are just a few of the items joining the 2000 product lines already on offer. Pantry Magic boasts the largest supply of silicon bakeware in New Zealand with a fantastic array of colours, shapes and sizes.

“What makes Pantry Magic distinctive,” says proprietor Rob Erskine, “is that we’re offering the same level of highquality kitchenware you’ll find at other shops but at more affordable prices.”

Rob reports that Pantry Magic sources the products it sells under the Pantry Magic label directly from the manufacturers. The result is cost savings of 30 percent compared to what you’ll pay at other speciality kitchen shops. And Pantry Magic products come with a limited lifetime warranty.

Also new to the store is an online gift registry, to begin in August. Its introduction coincides with the upcoming wedding season.

“Couples getting married or those celebrating anniversaries or birthdays will want to take advantage of the service,” Rob says. “With so many products to choose from, our customers are sure to find something even the most discerning cook will like.”

Also look out for the start of cooking classes, book signings and regular product demonstrations in Pantry Magic’s demonstration kitchen. The kitchen is anchored by a stove/oven range custom built by La Cornue of France.

Rob issues a special invitation for parents with small children. The shop’s floorplan is designed to allow plenty of room for pushchairs. A children’s area with puzzles and games to keep the kids occupied means mum can browse at her leisure. Again with children in mind, Pantry Magic stocks a range of children’s cookware: mixing bowls, aprons, plates, and utensils to keep little hands busy in the kitchen.

American chef Robert Esser started Pantry Magic five years ago, intent on developing a company that catered specifically to home cook and baking enthusiasts. His efforts have already paid off with Pantry Magic receiving the 2008-2009 International Housewares Association Global Innovator Award. An honour it shares with past winners such as Harrods and Macy’s.

Mt Wellington’s Pantry Magic is New Zealand’s first. It joins stores in Hong Kong, the company headquarters, Singapore, Japan, China, Taiwan and Indonesia, with recent interest from Australia, Canada and the UK.

Pantry Magic is located at 65 Lunn Avenue, Mt Wellington. Ring 09 527 8927 for more information. Go shopping or sign up for the gift registry on the website at http://www.pantrymagic.
