Creek clean

Waterview Primary School students will be doing their bit for Clean Up New Zealand Week which runs from today to September 11.

They will be working with members of the Friends of Oakley Creek group to tidy up areas around the creek’s waterfall next Tuesday, between 9.30am and 11.30am.

School principal Brett Skeen says it is good for the students to be working with the group and be involved in a community project.

Community groups are encouraged to get involved with the cleanup week through rubbish collecting, reusing plastic bags and caring for the environment.

The week is a national event co-ordinated by the Keep New Zealand Beautiful Charitable Trust and is designed to educate and encourage all Kiwis to clean up and preserve their surroundings.
