An auctioned set of Tom Scott drawings raised $1325 which will contribute to a court appeal by Child Poverty Action Group. The Auckland City Harbour News August 24 story reported the Scott triptych was being auctioned on Trade Me to help fund the group’s case against Working For Families legislation. The group claims the in-work tax credit is discriminatory because it is not paid to parents on a benefit. The auctioned drawings featured on the controversial documentary Inside Child Poverty by Bryan Bruce. The group estimates it needs to raise $70,000 to take its case through the Court of Appeal, and on to the Supreme Court if need be. It has raised about $25,000 so far.
