Biochemist dabbles in design
Biochemist-cum-artist Craig Hilton doesn’t restrict his creative endeavours to the laboratory, he also likes to dabble in design.
Dr Hilton, along with painter Andrew McLeod, is exhibiting The Sickness Show at the Audio Foundation in the city.
It is a tongue-in-cheek look at chronic fatigue syndrome.
Mr McLeod is a painter, digital artist and textile maker and has been afflicted with the condition for seven years.
The Mt Eden artist had booked in a show at the foundation because of the ‘‘good culture there’’, and invited Dr Hilton to join him.
‘‘A lot of things came together that really amplified the genius hilarity of the idea,’’ Mr McLeod says. ‘‘Craig is a conceptual artist and conceptual art is a gag based on ideas which is what science is all about, ideas.’’
The two men are giving a talk tomorrow at the foundation, followed by a debut performance by band The Village.
The Sickness Show is on at the Audio Foundation at 4 Poynton Tce, until September 29.
