Groups get funds boost

The Auck­land The­atre Com­pany and YWCA are just two of the community groups ben­e­fit­ing from $2.5 mil­lion worth of grants from SkyCity Auck­land Community Trust.

The grants sup­port a wide range of community projects in­clud­ing pro­vid­ing in­su­la­tion for homes of low-in­come fam­i­lies in South Auck­land, en­cour­ag­ing teens to be more ac­tive, and pur­chas­ing land to build homes for vul­ner­a­ble fam­i­lies in West Auck­land.

The Auck­land The­atre Com­pany re­ceived a do­na­tion of $26,730 to­wards pro­vid­ing seat­ing in its pro­posed water­front the­atre in Wyn­yard Quar­ter.

YWCA Auck­land re­ceived $30,000 to con­trib­ute to­wards its Fu­ture Lead­ers men­tor­ing pro­gramme which pro­vides long-term skills-based ser­vices to young women.

Ap­pli­ca­tions for next year’s Auck­land Community Trust grants will open in De­cem­ber.
