Changes have been proposed for bus services travelling along New North Rd. Auckland Transport and NZ Bus say making better use of services, increasing frequencies and simplifying route numbers from 14 to five, will result in reduced waiting times. Passengers will also be able to more easily identify the bus they require and the changes will reduce overcrowding on buses. All future services will go via St Lukes and will be timetabled to create a frequency of at least one bus every 15 minutes between Avondale and the city, between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday. During peak hours buses will run approximately every five minutes. The changes aim to improve trip times through the city centre by taking the inbound services via Wellesley St instead of Waterloo Quadrant and will provide more capacity through Kingsland and Eden Terrace. The proposed changes are open for public feedback until 4pm, November 30. For more information about the proposal and feedback form visit at.co.nz/ newnorthroad. It is anticipated the changes will be implemented in February 2013.
