SPCA’S city link

Auckland City Harbour News - - NEWS -

Councillor Cathy Casey is the Auckland Council SPCA Ambassador.

The 130-year-old charity has a long history of caring for the city’s animals and the support it has received from Aucklanders throughout its history is a true testimony to the high regard in which the organisation is held, SPCA Auckland executive director Bob Kerridge says.

‘‘With the appointment of councillor Cathy Casey, an acknowledged animal welfare advocate, we will be assured that, when the opportunity arises, the voice of the city’s animals will be heard loud and clear.

‘‘The position is of an honorary nature and will not impinge on the normal operation of council or the independence of Ms Casey. However, it will ensure that when animal issues arise their needs will be given a fair and proper hearing.’’

Ms Casey is proud to support the SPCA.

‘‘SPCA Auckland does essential work to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home abandoned or mistreated animals.

‘‘Making Auckland the world’s most liveable city means caring for all our residents, including those who cannot speak for themselves.’’
