Famine funds to PNG kids

Kiwi kids tak­ing part in this year’s World Vi­sion 40-Hour Famine will be rais­ing money for the hun­gry in Pa­pua New Guinea.

PNG has been af­fected by a decade of con­flict and has been cho­sen as the cam­paign’s ben­e­fi­ciary be­cause it has one of the high­est in­fant mor­tal­ity rates in the world and 43 per cent of chil­dren have had their growth stunted due to mal­nour­ish­ment.

The 40-Hour Famine is be­ing held from June 7 to 9 and funds raised will go to­wards im­prov­ing ac­cess to health ser­vices and nutri­tion ed­u­ca­tion in Bougainville, Pa­pua New Guinea.

World Vi­sion has also an­nounced this year’s celebrity teams.

The Edge Night­show hosts Brad and Marty are back for Team Red and pre­pared to go to any lengths to win.

A new look Team Blue will be led by Short­land Street’s Frankie Adams and Sil­ver Fern Kayla Cullen.

Erin Simp­son from The Erin Simp­son Show has re­cruited her mu­sic re­porter Mas­sad Barakat-Devine to Team Yel­low and is ex­cited to ‘‘help the peo­ple in Bougainville’’.
