Famine funds to PNG kids
Kiwi kids taking part in this year’s World Vision 40-Hour Famine will be raising money for the hungry in Papua New Guinea.
PNG has been affected by a decade of conflict and has been chosen as the campaign’s beneficiary because it has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world and 43 per cent of children have had their growth stunted due to malnourishment.
The 40-Hour Famine is being held from June 7 to 9 and funds raised will go towards improving access to health services and nutrition education in Bougainville, Papua New Guinea.
World Vision has also announced this year’s celebrity teams.
The Edge Nightshow hosts Brad and Marty are back for Team Red and prepared to go to any lengths to win.
A new look Team Blue will be led by Shortland Street’s Frankie Adams and Silver Fern Kayla Cullen.
Erin Simpson from The Erin Simpson Show has recruited her music reporter Massad Barakat-Devine to Team Yellow and is excited to ‘‘help the people in Bougainville’’.
Team Green will once again have FOUR Live duo Shannon Ryan and Tumehe Rongonui at the helm. Go to famine.org.nz to register. Follow the famine on Twitter – @40HourFamineNZ and Facebook.
