Top stu­dents fea­ture in grad­u­a­tion con­cert

Ris­ing stars from the Uni­ver­sity of Auck­land’s School of Mu­sic are set to take to the stage for the an­nual Grad­u­a­tion Gala Con­certo Com­pe­ti­tion.

The May 9 con­cert will fea­ture three of the School of Mu­sic’s most out­stand­ing stu­dents and a spe­cial per­for­mance by the Auck­land Cham­ber Choir con­ducted by as­so­ciate pro­fes­sor Karen Grylls.

Among the per­form­ers is third year stu­dent Liam Wood­ing.

The 20-year-old from Kings­land has been play­ing pi­ano for most of his life and has per­formed at top events in­clud­ing the Syd­ney Youth Mu­si­cale.

On the night he will per­form Pi­ano Con­certo in G ma­jor by Mau­rice Ravel.

The win­ner will get $5000.
