A world of mu­sic from piano duo

A piano con­cert hosted by the Univer­sity of Auck­land will take au­di­ence mem­bers on a mu­si­cal jour­ney from Rus­sia to the Amer­i­cas on May 5.

Pi­anist and re­cent Univer­sity of Auck­land grad­u­ate Flavio Vil­lani is pre­sent­ing a pro­gramme of piano duo reper­toire in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Duo Pian­is­tico Ital­ianoan’s Filippo Ar­lia and Valentina Cur­renti. The Ital­ian piano duo are pro­fes­sors in piano at Italy’s Isti­tuto Su­pe­ri­ore di studi Mu­si­cali P. I. Tchaikovsky and have per­formed ex­ten­sively across Europe.

The evening will fea­ture per­for­mances of clas­sic pieces from two pianos in­clud­ing Ravel’s Bolero and Gersh­win’s Rhap­sody in Blue.

As part of an ex­change pro- gramme, piano per­for­mance mas­ters grad­u­ate Mr Vil­lani will then leave for a tour of Italy and Spain on May 22.

The piano duo will per­form at the Univer­sity of Auck­land Mu­sic Theatre, 6 Sy­monds St on May 5 from 6.30pm to 8pm. Tick­ets on­line or at the door.
