So the new annexe next to Allendale House is, according to its designer, ‘‘designed to provide a transition . . . a deliberate attempt to emphasise the architectural integrity of the original villa’’? ( Auckland City Harbour News, April 24).
Isn’t that just architects’ mumbo jumbo for ‘‘it stands out like a sore thumb’’?
It looks more like it was designed to maximise car parking space. Neither is this appropriate for Ponsonby’s historic main street nor should the new, improved super-city aspire to such cynical architecture.
