Auckland City Harbour News - - NEWS -

Proceeds from a fundraising high tea event on Mother’s Day will help buy back to basics packs for disadvantaged kids.

Tickets to the May 12 function at Auckland’s Heritage Hotel are on sale now for $65 per adult and $30 per child.

Variety – The Children’s Charity is behind the event that will include entertainment from Tui awardwinning singer/ songwriter Tami Nielson.

Toni Street and Renee Wright from TVNZ will talk to MC Mary Lambie about the joys and lessons of motherhood and the guest speaker is Jane Portman, the principal of a decile one school in Gisborne.

Each back to basics pack contains toothpaste and a toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, a notebook and pen.

Ms Lambie says she is honoured to help raise awareness and money for children from struggling families.

‘‘Mothering is hard enough without the added pressure of wondering where the next meal will come from – too many of our children are exposed to this stress and uncertainty,’’ she says.
