Get in­formed about the plan

Res­i­dents and busi­ness own­ers in­ter­ested in the Uni­tary Plan are in­vited to a se­ries of pub­lic meet­ings to help them bet­ter un­der­stand what it will mean for them.

The plan is open for pub­lic con­sul­ta­tion un­til May 31.

The Al­bert-Eden Lo­cal Board is or­gan­is­ing the meet­ings in re­sponse to the huge pub­lic reaction to the pro­posal.

‘‘We’ve been de­lighted at the huge in­ter­est in the plan; more than for any other such plan in liv­ing mem­ory,’’ board chair­man Peter Haynes says.

‘‘We want ev­ery­one to look care­fully at it and de­cide what they like and what they’d like changed.’’

Drop-in ses­sions are also be­ing held at li­braries for res­i­dents who would pre­fer a one-on-one dis­cus­sion. Meet­ing times are: Springs of Life Church, 126 Pt Chevalier Rd, May 14, at 7.30pm

Mt Al­bert Bowl­ing Club, 10 Al­len­dale Rd, May 23, at 7.30pm. Li­brary ses­sion times are:

Pt Chevalier Li­brary, 1225 Great North Rd. May 13, 11am till 1pm; May 20, 10am till noon; May 23, 2pm till 4pm; and May 25 from 10am till noon

Mt Al­bert Li­brary, 84 Saint Lukes Rd. May 13, 2pm till 4pm, May 20, 10am till noon, May 24, 10am till noon, and May 26, from 1pm till 3pm.
