Springs battle on

Auckland City Harbour News - - SPORT -

A plucky Western Springs side made Three Kings United work hard for their 5-0 win in the Lotto Northern Premier Women’s League on Saturday.

Sadly for ‘‘ The Hoops’’, Iman Said’s celebrations after her goal in the second spell were cut short by the offside flag.

In men’s first division, David Featonby’s strike two minutes into the second half of Metro’s match at Albie Turner Field earned the Mt Albert side a 1-0 win over second-placed Takapuna.

Mt Albert-Ponsonby weren’t able to complete the ‘‘New North Road double’’ on Saturday after going down 2-1 at Ngaruawahia United.

In second division action, leaders Western Springs came a cropper for the first time this season as Mangere United handed them a 3-0 hiding.
