Crafts aimed at Asian families

Auckland City Harbour News - - NEWS -

Asian families with special needs children are being invited to join a special crafting empowerment project.

The Asian Family Autism support group is running the artistic project called Creative Empowerment for the Asian Community.

The project is inten- ded to introduce and promote crafts to the wider Asian disability community. It is hoped this focus on crafts will in turn strengthen community networks and help promote disability awareness.

The project is open to any Asian family with a special needs child, not just those with autism.

Organisers are keen to hear from families who would like to participate in the project.

The crafts are being taught and practised at a workshop held the last Monday of each month (excluding school holidays) at the Wilson Centre in Taka- puna, from 10am to noon. The next meeting will be on May 27.
