Ben­jamin Wil­liam Davis’ Hard­ware Boot Fac­tory in Rich­mond Rd and El­liott’s fac­tory in 1912.

The league code was in its fourth sea­son in New Zealand and a scratch game was played be­tween both fac­to­ries with teams of seven a side.

Davis then founded the club and was its first vi­cepres­i­dent.

The Pt Cheva­lier man main­tained a keen in­ter­est un­til he died in 1962.

The make-up of Grey Lynn has changed over time but gen­er­a­tions of league­play­ing fam­i­lies still drive across the city to play for their club.
