Swordsmen from across central Auckland are proving they are a cut above the rest after making another clean sweep at the North Island Fencing Championships.

More than 70 competitors drew their swords for the June 1 to 3 tournament but it was Auckland’s fencers who dominated.

Mt Albert’s Kyle Macdonald came first in the men’s epee final.

Macdonald is also the present national men’s epee champion ( Auckland City Harbour News, November 14).

Epsom fencer Katie Logan was second in the women’s sabre closely followed by Epsom’s Sasha Green and Mt Eden’s Laura Jacks who both came third.
