Libraries’ book sale starts soon
Book lovers get ready.
The huge biannual Auckland City Libraries book sale kicks off soon at the Central City Library in Lorne St.
Thousands of books, DVDs, CDs and magazines will be priced at $1 and $2.
To ensure collections are kept fresh and up-to-date the library buys many new items each year and withdraws worn or duplicate material no longer needed.
Central local libraries manager Geoff Chamberlain says the sales are much anticipated.
‘‘Our book sales are extremely popular and there is something for everyone among the withdrawn items.’’
The library also donates items throughout the year to retirement homes, prisons, the Variety Club of New Zealand and various Pacific Islands.
The sale will be held on the ground floor of the Central Library from June 24-30, unless all stock is gone before the week is up.
The Central Library is open weekdays 9am-8pm, weekends 10am-4pm.
