Li­braries’ book sale starts soon

Book lovers get ready.

The huge bian­nual Auck­land City Li­braries book sale kicks off soon at the Cen­tral City Li­brary in Lorne St.

Thou­sands of books, DVDs, CDs and mag­a­zines will be priced at $1 and $2.

To en­sure col­lec­tions are kept fresh and up-to-date the li­brary buys many new items each year and with­draws worn or du­pli­cate ma­te­rial no longer needed.

Cen­tral lo­cal li­braries man­ager Ge­off Cham­ber­lain says the sales are much an­tic­i­pated.

‘‘Our book sales are ex­tremely pop­u­lar and there is some­thing for ev­ery­one among the with­drawn items.’’

The li­brary also do­nates items through­out the year to re­tire­ment homes, pris­ons, the Va­ri­ety Club of New Zealand and var­i­ous Pa­cific Is­lands.

The sale will be held on the ground floor of the Cen­tral Li­brary from June 24-30, un­less all stock is gone be­fore the week is up.

The Cen­tral Li­brary is open week­days 9am-8pm, week­ends 10am-4pm.
