Charity lunch honours Warriors Vatuvei and Ropati
Tickets are selling fast for a fundraising salute to league stars Manu Vatuvei and Jerome Ropati.
The luncheon is being hosted by the Mad Butcher and Suburban Newspapers Community Trust at the Ellerslie Convention Centre on July 25 and proceeds will go to charity.
Master of Ceremonies and long-time trustee Sir Peter Leitch says it’s the first time the trust has put on a double testimonial.
The star guests are the newest members of the Vodafone Warriors 10-season club, he says.
Ropati, 28, made his debut in 2003 and is one of only six players to score 50 NRL tries for the club.
Vatuvei made his debut in 2004 and is the club’s try-scoring record holder.
‘‘We want people to come along and honour Manu and Jerome for everything they’ve done for the Vodafone Warriors,’’ Sir Peter says. ‘‘It’s going to be a very special day.’’ Tickets to the event cost $100 each and cover a three course meal and entertainment by comedians Ben Hurley and Dai Henwood.
Tables of 10 are also being sold and the day will include a charity auction so don’t miss out.
