Emerging artists

Auckland City Harbour News - - WS -

The work of New Zealand’s top emerging artists from Elam School of Fine Arts at The University of Auckland has been published in a new book. The images and text contained in the catalogue are a sample of the work displayed during the November 2012 Elam Graduate Show. ‘‘The artworks in this catalogue offer a small window into Elam activities and the speculative and personal engagements within each artist’s practice,’’ head of Elam and associate professor Derrick Cherrie says. ‘‘Examples of student writing have also been interwoven between the images and this pairing of text and visual material demonstrates how art production is not an isolated activity, but one of dialogue, rigour and exchange across a broad framework of aesthetic and imaginative responses to the world.’’ It is available from suppliers of fine art books or through Elam School of Fine Arts for $27.95.
