Enlist in pink army and fight cancer Invitation to Asian writers
Enthusiastic locals are being recruited for the pink army.
The Pink Ribbon street appeal is on October 11 and 12 and volunteers are being sought by the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
Money from this year’s collection will fund lifesaving awareness and education programmes, research into new targeted treatments, support for women going through breast cancer and the new 0800 BC NURSE advice line.
As part of breast cancer month in October women are being reminded to be aware and to look after their health.
Statistics show about 2800 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, one in nine women will be diagnosed over the course of their lifetime and more than 600 will die.
