The na­tional fi­nal of the Ap­pren­tice of the Year com­pe­ti­tion will see re­gional fi­nal­ists go head-to-head to bat­tle it out for the ti­tle.

Each ap­pren­tice will un­der­take a 45-minute in­ter­view with the na­tional judg­ing panel be­fore com­plet­ing a small build­ing project which will then be gifted to Auck­land char­i­ties.

The prac­ti­cal chal­lenge will be open to the pub­lic to watch at The Cloud, Queens Wharf, on Oc­to­ber 11 from 8am to noon.

The win­ner will be an­nounced at an awards din­ner hosted by co­me­dian Paul Ego af­ter the chal­lenge.

Win­ners re­ceive a $5000 grant, high­qual­ity trade prod­ucts and tools and an iPad loaded with com­pli­ance doc­u­ments.

Their boss will also win the em­ployer award and re­ceive an iPad.

Se­cond and third place re­gional and na­tional win­ners win a prize pack in­clud­ing high qual­ity trade prod­ucts.
