Many ways to mark Auckland heritage
The Auckland Heritage Festival kicks off this weekend.
With more than 200 free or low cost events available, there are lots of activities to get the kids involved in these school holidays.
‘‘Auckland has no single history, and the Heritage Festival reflects that, weaving together diverse local history, military, sporting and business history, fashion and textiles, and also a look at the histories of our Maori, Pacific and Chinese Auck- landers,’’ mayor Len Brown says.
‘‘There are events specifically for kids and families, and a lot of opportunity for people to learn how to capture their own family or local history.’’
The festival kicks off this Saturday at the renovated Shed 10 building on Queens Wharf.
