From Monday there will be a lane merge in place westbound on SH16 just past the Great North Rd offramp. This means traffic will need to merge from three lanes down to two and care is required while drivers get use to the new motorway layout. The work is part of a series of big jobs affecting travel on Auckland’s Northwestern and Southwestern Motorways (State Highways 16 and 20). To help people stay connected and in touch with the extensive construction work the NZ Transport Agency has started a dedicated information service. The Stay Connected webpage enables people to keep informed about what those changes and impacts are so they can plan their trips. ‘‘The more people check, the better prepared they’ll be,’’ Auckland State Highways Manager Steve Mutton says.
