Tempest blows through
The Handel Consort & Quire is performing The Tempest at Pitt St Methodist Church on October 5.
The Tempest is attributed to 17th century English composer Henry Purcell, although it is now believed the work is comprised of a number of composers.
It is a semi-operatic adaptation of Shakespeare’s play The Tempest and is a story of betrayal between brothers.
Among those performing are soprano Gina Sanders, tenor Iain Tetley and bass Chalium Poppy.
The concert also features a professional orchestra.
Although it is a concert performance and not staged, the choir and soloists will be dressing appropriately for their characters.
Purcell’s Birthday Ode to Queen Mary will also be performed.
The performance will be directed by Robert Howell.
