Changes to curling squad
A new-look national women’s curling team will battle it out for the PacificAsia championship title in China next month with experienced players unavailable.
The all-Auckland side is made up by Mt Eden’s Chelsea Farley and Tessa Farley and central Auckland’s Thivya Jeyaranjan and Waverley Taylor.
The Farley sisters and Jeyaranjan all played for the national open side two years ago, but it is a big step up for Taylor who was named in the junior women’s team just a few weeks ago.
Coach Liz Matthews will fill in as a fifth player if required. They will take on Australia, China, Japan, Kazakhstan and Korea in Shanghai from November 11 to 19. The top gold and silver medallists will qualify for the World Women’s Curling Championship in Canada next year.
