Top flautist goes solo

Flautist Cather­ine Bowie is the soloist in this Sun­day’s con­cert by St Matthew’s Cham­ber Orches­tra.

She will play the Carl Nielsen Flute Con­certo.

Cather­ine Bowie was pre­vi­ously the prin­ci­pal flute with Auck­land Phil­har­mo­nia Orches­tra and now teaches at the Univer­sity of Auck­land.

Other works be­ing per­formed at the con­cert are Dag Wiren’s Ser­e­nade for Strings and Dvo­rak New World Sym­phony.

The con­duc­tor is

Michael McLel­lan and the per­for­mance is be­ing held at St Matthew-inthe-City Church on Hob­son St at 2.30pm.

Tick­ets cost $25 for adults, $20 for se­niors and stu­dents and chil­dren un­der 12 are free if ac­com­pa­nied by an adult.
