More copies to meet de­mand

Auck­land Li­braries has been in­un­dated with re­quests from read­ers want­ing to get their hands on award­win­ning book The Lu­mi­nar­ies.

The 832-page book writ­ten by Mt Eden’s Eleanor Cat­ton won the pres­ti­gious Man Booker Prize ear­lier this month.

Since the an­nounce­ment the book has been in hot de­mand with more than 1700 cus­tomer re­quests made to Auck­land Li­braries.

There is al­ready 118 copies held across the 55 li­braries but col­lec­tions man­ager Louise LaHatte says it is or­der­ing 145 more to meet de­mand.

Ms LaHatte says the last book to come close to the same level of re­quests was erot­ica novel 50 Shades of Grey.
