It’s res­cue time at Mo­tat

Mo­tat’s lat­est vis­it­ing ex­hi­bi­tion brings to life the fire, search and res­cue tech­niques which save lives.

The in­ter­ac­tive ex­hi­bi­tion Res­cue opens on Novem­ber 9.

To launch it prop­erly Mo­tat will hold a Fire and Res­cue Day with fire en­gines and fire­fight­ers on Novem­ber 10.

Vis­it­ing from Aus­tralia’s SciTech mu­seum Res­cue will ed­u­cate visi­tors on the tech­niques that be­come life­lines for many peo­ple in need. From the air to the sea and on land the ex­hi­bi­tion delves into the im­mense op­er­a­tions be­hind spe­cial­ist res­cue squads in­clud­ing res­cue tech­niques, emer­gency sup­plies and equip­ment.

As well as demon­strat­ing fire­fight­ing, emer­gency ser­vices, surf life­sav­ing and sea-raft sur­vival tech­niques the ex­hi­bi­tion will also of­fer hands-on ac­tiv­i­ties, real-life videos and graphic dis­plays over 17 in­ter­ac­tive ex­hibits.

Full-body ex­pe­ri­ences will let visi­tors feel what it is like to be both the res­cuer and in need of res­cu­ing.

The fire ex­pe­ri­ence will have visi­tors get­ting down low and feel­ing their way to safety, the he­li­copter res­cue will let visi­tors climb aboard a life-size he­li­copter and take the driver’s seat in a res­cue sim­u­la­tion, and fight the fire will test chil­dren’s abil­ity to choose the cor­rect ex­tin­guisher to put out the blaze.
