It’s rescue time at Motat
Motat’s latest visiting exhibition brings to life the fire, search and rescue techniques which save lives.
The interactive exhibition Rescue opens on November 9.
To launch it properly Motat will hold a Fire and Rescue Day with fire engines and firefighters on November 10.
Visiting from Australia’s SciTech museum Rescue will educate visitors on the techniques that become lifelines for many people in need. From the air to the sea and on land the exhibition delves into the immense operations behind specialist rescue squads including rescue techniques, emergency supplies and equipment.
As well as demonstrating firefighting, emergency services, surf lifesaving and sea-raft survival techniques the exhibition will also offer hands-on activities, real-life videos and graphic displays over 17 interactive exhibits.
Full-body experiences will let visitors feel what it is like to be both the rescuer and in need of rescuing.
The fire experience will have visitors getting down low and feeling their way to safety, the helicopter rescue will let visitors climb aboard a life-size helicopter and take the driver’s seat in a rescue simulation, and fight the fire will test children’s ability to choose the correct extinguisher to put out the blaze.
