The Heaven Bent Gospel Choir is holding a celebratory concert to mark the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington where Martin Luther King Jr delivered his I Have a Dream speech. The choir specialises in singing a cappella music from the African American and gospel traditions along with modern African, Maori, and other Pacific music. The March to Freedom concert will feature freedom songs from the American civil rights movement along with new arrangements. The aim of the Heaven Bent choir is to demonstrate how freedom songs helped change history. March to Freedom is on November 9 at All Saints Anglican Church, 284 Ponsonby Rd. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children. Visit iticket.co.nz to buy tickets and for more information.
