Auckland City Harbour News - - NEWS -

Knowing how to read and understand the Unitary Plan is critical for those planning on making a submission on the massive document.

To that end the Auckland Council is running a series of open days, starting next week, to help people better understand the plan.

The open days will include displays and seminars on key topics, hard copies of the text and maps, internet access to the plan and experts on-hand to answer questions.

Manager of regional and local planning Penny Pirrit says the open days will be helpful for anyone wanting to understand the pro- posed plan so they can make a submission.

‘‘Council staff will be at the events to explain how the plan has changed following feedback on the March 2013 draft.

‘‘They will also be able to walk people through this more formal process of making a submission,’’ she says.

An open day will be held at the Auckland Central Library from 1pm to 8pm on November 11.

There will also be open days at Manukau, Henderson, Takapuna and Franklin.
