Chance of a life­time for Gal­lipoli vol­un­teer helpers

Vol­un­teers are be­ing sought for an ex­pe­ri­ence of a life­time as­sist­ing with vis­i­tor ser­vices at com­mem­o­ra­tions in Gal­lipoli in April, 2014.

Con­ser­va­tion Vol­un­teers is re­spon­si­ble for or­gan­is­ing vol­un­teers to help at An­zac Day com­mem­o­ra­tions in Gal­lipoli on be­half of Veter­ans’ Af­fairs New Zealand and the Aus­tralian Depart­ment of Veter­ans’ Af­fairs.

The job in­cludes tasks like wel­com­ing vis­i­tors, con­duct­ing bus reg­is­tra­tions and help­ing vis­i­tors with mo­bil­ity is­sues.

Dur­ing

the

13-day ex­pe­ri­ence vol­un­teers will be part of com­mem­o­ra­tive ser­vices and get to ex­plore Is­tan­bul and visit bat­tle sites along the Gal­lipoli Penin­sula.

Peo­ple with med­i­cal and de­fence force back­grounds are en­cour­aged to ap­ply, but this ex­pe­ri­ence is not es­sen­tial.

You need to be aged 18 or over to ap­ply.

The cost of the trip for vol­un­teers is about $6936 and ap­pli­ca­tions close on Novem­ber 15.

The pro­gramme runs from April 16 to 29.
