Join the sleep ap­noea dis­cus­sion at meeting

Thou­sands of New Zealan­ders live ev­ery day in a state of sleep de­pri­va­tion caused by sleep ap­noea.

The Sleep Ap­noea As­so­ci­a­tion of NZ (SAANZ) would like to start a sup­port group in cen­tral Auck­land for suf­fer­ers.

Come to the meeting on Novem­ber 27, 6.30pm at Ep­som Bowl­ing Club, 77 The Drive, Ep­som, if you are in­ter­ested in learn­ing more.

Sev­eral of the ex­ec­u­tive com­mit­tee will at­tend the meeting, along with Dr Alex Bar­tle of Sleep Well Clinic, sleep phys­i­ol­o­gist Pru­dence Mur­ray from Auck­land Dis­trict Health Board, and Jonathan El­lis, a prod­uct spe­cial­ist from Fisher & Paykel Health­care.

The panel will speak about Sleep Ap­noea and how it af­fects the pa­tient and their fam­ily, treat­ment op­tions and how these main­tain open air­ways dur­ing sleep, and how to over­come the is­sues that some peo­ple ex­pe­ri­ence in us­ing CPAP ma­chines. There will be an op­por­tu­nity for ques­tions from the floor.
