Herne Bay house a win­ner

An ‘‘ex­cep­tional’’ Herne Bay home has been recog­nised with a na­tional crafts­man­ship prize at the Reg­is­tered Mas­ter Builders 2013 House of the Year Awards.

The two-storey master­piece, built by New Wind­sor-based WG de Gruchy Con­struc­tion Lim­ited, was also named the Reg­is­tered Mas­ter Builders House of the Year for the Auck­land re­gion ( Auck­land City Har­bour News, Au­gust 16).

The judges de­scribed builder Wil­liam de Gruchy as a mas­ter of his craft.

‘‘He fully de­serves the in­au­gu­ral Na­tional House of the Year Crafts­man­ship Award.

‘‘The par­tic­u­lar at­ten- tion to de­tail and ex­cep­tional stan­dard of fin­ish through­out was an ab­so­lute plea­sure to judge.’’
