Soloists fea­ture in new orches­tra

A new orches­tra will make its de­but with Christ­mas con­certs this De­cem­ber.

The NZ Con­certo Orches­tra is a new out­fit ded­i­cated to fea­tur­ing solo con­certo per­for­mances, pro­vid­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties for New Zealand com­posers to have their mu­sic played and train­ing stu­dents and young pro­fes­sion­als.

The De­cem­ber Christ­mas pro- gramme will fea­ture four soloists play­ing Vi­valdi’s Flute Con­certo Il Gardellino, Bach’s E Ma­jor Vi­o­lin Con­certo, Tele­mann’s Vi­ola Con­certo and Corelli’s Christ­mas Con­certo.

The orches­tra will also per­form other Christ­mas favourites by Mozart, Han­del, Tchaikovsky and New Zealand’s own Tara Jah­nWerner in a fes­tive cel­e­bra­tion.

Con­certs will be held at 6pm on De­cem­ber 6 at St Mark’s Angli­can Church in Re­muera, and 2pm on De­cem­ber 7 at the Pitt St Methodist Church in New­ton.

Tick­ets are avail­able at venues an hour be­fore the con­cert or go to all­mu­sic.net.nz/nz­con­cer­torche stra to or­der on­line.

Adults $30, stu­dents/pen­sion­ers $20, chil­dren un­der 14 $10.
