Tuba and euphonium players, from beginner to professional, are needed to take part in Aotea Square’s Tuba Christmas for the worldwide event’s 40th anniversary.

Hundreds of musicians will gather to play Christmas carols as a tribute to notable tuba player William Bell who was born on Christmas Day in 1902.

More than 400 players take part in the New York event each year.

Auckland’s event will be held from noon till 2pm on December 19.

Music will be provided on the day or in advance by request.

Lunch and car parking tickets will be given to those who register early.
