Aucklanders wild about Bushman’s Grill

Auckland City Harbour News - - NEWS -

Offering outstanding food, a vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff, it’s little wonder that Bushman’s Grill has already become a firm favourite with diners from all over Auckland, since opening last year.

Such is the reputation of this Northcote dining destination, that customers regularly travel from as far away as Howick and Manukau to enjoy their mouthwatering fare.

This genuine family restaurant is owned by related families the Bezuidenhouts and Ockerses, with husband and wife Shane and Dee, and Shane’s sister Tammy, dedicated to creating a dining experience that is second to none!

And with 30 successful years running popular restaurants in Zimbabwe and South Africa, the team certainly know what they’re doing.

The food at Bushman’s Grill is nothing less than spectacular. On the menu you’ll find a wide variety of dishes rich in African flavour, with something to suit every taste and budget.

Prime New Zealand steak cuts appear prominently, but it’s their preparation and serving that’s so special.

Cooked the ‘wild way’ on a skillet over flames, basted for extra flavour, they are then served in the skillet itself, giving you all the delicious ‘in-the-pan’ juices and tasty bits. No wonder they described the Bezuidenhout’s cooking in Harare as ‘steaks you leave home for’!

Another of their most popular signature dishes are their ribs. These sticky pork ribs arrive practically falling off the bone, having been slow-cooked in a special sauce, then basted and flame grilled to perfection.

Then there’s their succulent tasty chicken that is marinated in either a lemon and herb or peri peri marinade basted and flame grilled.

All mains come with one complimentary side of fries, spicy rice, salad or creamed spinach.

There’s also a great value Bush Kids menu – and while parents relax in the restaurant the youngsters can play in a large playroom, complete with X-Box games. In fact, Bushman’s Grill is as popular with children, as it is with adults!

Now that December is on us, Bushman’s Grill staff are ready to take care of your Christmas celebrations – with comfortable seating for 40 people. They are happy to consider most reasonable requests.

The restaurant is fully licensed, and has one of the best value winelists you’ll find anywhere. BYO wine is accepted.

Bushman’s Grill is located at 31 Northcote Rd, Hillcrest, next to the Poenamo Hotel. The restaurant is open for lunch Friday and Sunday from noon to 2pm and seven days from 5.30pm for dinner. Phone 418 0056 or visit www.bushmans to see their latest specials.
