Auck­lan­ders wild about Bush­man’s Grill

Of­fer­ing out­stand­ing food, a vi­brant at­mos­phere and friendly staff, it’s lit­tle won­der that Bush­man’s Grill has al­ready be­come a firm favourite with din­ers from all over Auck­land, since open­ing last year.

Such is the rep­u­ta­tion of this North­cote din­ing des­ti­na­tion, that cus­tomers reg­u­larly travel from as far away as How­ick and Manukau to en­joy their mouth­wa­ter­ing fare.

This gen­uine fam­ily restau­rant is owned by re­lated fam­i­lies the Bezuiden­houts and Ock­erses, with hus­band and wife Shane and Dee, and Shane’s sis­ter Tammy, ded­i­cated to cre­at­ing a din­ing ex­pe­ri­ence that is sec­ond to none!

And with 30 suc­cess­ful years run­ning pop­u­lar restau­rants in Zim­babwe and South Africa, the team cer­tainly know what they’re do­ing.

The food at Bush­man’s Grill is noth­ing less than spec­tac­u­lar. On the menu you’ll find a wide va­ri­ety of dishes rich in African flavour, with some­thing to suit ev­ery taste and bud­get.

Prime New Zealand steak cuts ap­pear promi­nently, but it’s their prepa­ra­tion and serv­ing that’s so spe­cial.

Cooked the ‘wild way’ on a skil­let over flames, basted for ex­tra flavour, they are then served in the skil­let it­self, giv­ing you all the de­li­cious ‘in-the-pan’ juices and tasty bits. No won­der they de­scribed the Bezuiden­hout’s cook­ing in Harare as ‘steaks you leave home for’!

An­other of their most pop­u­lar sig­na­ture dishes are their ribs. These sticky pork ribs ar­rive prac­ti­cally fall­ing off the bone, hav­ing been slow-cooked in a spe­cial sauce, then basted and flame grilled to per­fec­tion.

Then there’s their suc­cu­lent tasty chicken that is mar­i­nated in ei­ther a le­mon and herb or peri peri mari­nade basted and flame grilled.

All mains come with one com­pli­men­tary side of fries, spicy rice, salad or creamed spinach.

There’s also a great value Bush Kids menu – and while par­ents re­lax in the restau­rant the young­sters can play in a large play­room, com­plete with X-Box games. In fact, Bush­man’s Grill is as pop­u­lar with chil­dren, as it is with adults!

Now that De­cem­ber is on us, Bush­man’s Grill staff are ready to take care of your Christ­mas cel­e­bra­tions – with com­fort­able seat­ing for 40 peo­ple. They are happy to con­sider most rea­son­able re­quests.

The restau­rant is fully li­censed, and has one of the best value winelists you’ll find any­where. BYO wine is ac­cepted.
