Parking nightmare

Re: Parking ( Auckland City Harbour News, December 13).

I live in Livingstone St, Westmere. This street is a nightmare for parking.

Not only do we get ‘‘outsiders’’ using the street for parking when they commute on buses but we the residents have to navigate the street to exit.

Most of us park with our two passenger side wheels on the pavement. Of course, in the eyes of the Auckland Council, we are breaking the law.

In fact, last Thursday I got a parking ticket for $40, even though I saw another 10 vehicles parked the same without tickets.

I mainly do this because in the last six months I have had my driver’s side mirror taken out and smashed, usually by rubbish trucks on a Tuesday around 7am.

Of course complaining to the council did no good because I didn’t actually see it happen.

We as residents have repeatedly asked Auckland Council to either make Livingstone St one way or parking on one side only.

What is the answer I wonder. Do any of your readers know the solution?
